Job summary:
Do you have proven experience in water quality monitoring, flow monitoring and quality control of environmental data?
The Water Group is currently seeking to appoint a Project Officer to assist with a range of hydrometric monitoring projects to support Manly Hydraulic Laboratory’s suite of data collection and data management projects and services. In this role, you will work with senior staff members to deliver projects, as well as assist clients with enquiries and contribute to promoting the services of the laboratory.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of experienced scientists, engineers, and hydrographers to deliver high quality, cost effective and innovative solutions to our clients.
About You:
As part of the Water Information team, you will have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with strong communication and technical writing skills. Experience in project management, field work, environmental monitoring and water information content management systems are advantages for this position. You will be able to demonstrate competency in working safely in and around water, including having the ability to swim.
In addition, opportunities may be provided to contribute to oceanic, coastal, estuarine, riverine, water, wastewater, water quality, stormwater and flood systems engineering projects and/or participate in flow measurement and water infrastructure studies (such as dams, spillways and breakwaters) to achieve project objectives and deliver high quality and innovative client outcomes. You will have knowledge and demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: water data editing, analysis and interpretation; data management and reporting; the operation of hydrographic instruments; in-field environmental measurement; and project management.
Essential requirements:
- Appropriate Tertiary Qualification in a relevant discipline at Degree level.
- A valid NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stay.
