Job summary:
Manly Hydraulics Laboratory is currently seeking two Hydrographers to undertake and coordinate a range of hydrometric network projects and maintenance services across NSW, including construction of hydrometric monitoring stations under the guidance of senior staff to deliver high quality and innovative client outcomes.
Description of job:
Hydrographer (two roles)
- Undertake various projects involving the installation and maintenance of hydrometric monitoring stations within coastal and estuarine environments in NSW. The roles have a key emphasis on new hydrometric monitoring infrastructure, including construction and commissioning of monitoring stations.
- Provide quality technical data and advice that supports the management of flood plain management infrastructure and facilitates the development of technical solutions for clients.
- Contribute and work collaboratively and balance conflicting priorities to deliver high quality and innovative project outcomes within agreed parameters including time, cost, and quality.
- 12-month opportunities (contract) based in Manly Vale, NSW.
Essential requirements:
- Appropriate qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability and willingness to safely carry out all duties working on or near water, in the natural environment and urban environment including wastewater and stormwater systems.
- Demonstrate swimming/rescue (up to 200m) assessment.
- Current First aid certificate or commitment to obtain within six months.
- A valid NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stay and fieldwork.
- Strong focus on WHS and risk mitigation strategies.
- Four-wheel driving accreditation is preferable.
