Call for papers is now closed

The Conference has received an overwhelming response to the Call for Papers with over thirty Abstracts submitted, for twenty one possible presentation time slots. The number along with the high standard of Abstracts presented has made the Conveners task in selecting potential presentations difficult, but very encouraging. Each Abstract was assessed to ensure alignment to the theme, but also making sure the overall program represented the broad spectrum of work undertaken by Hydrographers across Australia and internationally.

The high number of Abstracts has meant unfortunately a number of Abstracts weren’t able to be selected for presentation; however the option of displaying a Poster Paper was provided to most of the remaining Abstracts.

A preliminary Program has been developed and is detailed on the PROGRAM page.

Conference Theme

The theme for the 2010 Conference is Hydrography - Reflection, Refinement Resurgence.

Reflection – on the past, to obtain a clear understanding of where hydrography has come from and to continue improving the profession based on sound knowledge and understanding.

Refinement – of the profession in training and adoption of new technologies, including acoustics and telecommunications, is vastly improving the efficiency of data collection and presentation.

Resurgence – in the need for water data due to climate change, environmental compliance, and social pressures.

Conference Theme details can be found at the Conference Home page

Abstract

An ‘Abstract’ of the proposed Paper should be provided to the Conference Convening Committee in order to determine suitability of content.

The Abstract should clearly demonstrate adherence to the theme, and should be no more than two pages in length (electronic Microsoft Word document preferred).

In order to provide an opportunity for the Convenors to categorise and group accepted papers for event planning, proposers should indicate whether their paper covers the overall theme or individual elements of the theme.

The underlying focus of all Papers presented at AHA Conferences is to target hydrographic principles, practices, technologies and standards, and proposers are encouraged to frame their papers within this context.

All abstracts can be emailed to conveners@aha.net.au for consideration prior to the date highlighted below, and should be in accordance with the Selection Criteria / Guidelines / Conditions.
